Acoustic panels for rooms that echo
Bare walls, hard floors, big windows — sound has nothing to land on, so it comes straight back at you. Akupanel is the original acoustic wood panel: real wood slats on felt that take the echo out and warm the room up at the same time.
When every voice in the room comes back at you
The problem
Modern rooms are built out of hard, flat things. Plaster, glass, concrete, a wood floor. Sound hits all of it and bounces, so voices stack on top of each other, the TV needs another two bars, and an evening with people in the room gets tiring faster than it should.
That is usually not a loud room. It is a room with nothing soft in it.
Hear it before you buy it
The same room and the same voice, before and after the panels go up.
Nothing else in these two recordings changes — same room, same microphone, same person talking. Press play on both. With bare walls, every word drags a tail behind it. With Akupanel on the wall, the tail goes, and what is left is just the voice.

The panels themselves
How you mount it decides how much it absorbs
Worth knowing before you order
Screwed flat to the wall, an Akupanel already takes the hard edge off a room — the felt behind the slats does that on its own.
Mounted on battens with mineral wool behind it, the same panel reaches Class A sound absorption, the top of the scale. Both are real ways to do it. It is just worth knowing which one you are buying before the parcel arrives.
Three ways to take the echo out
Real oak, walnut and ash veneer. The warm one, and the one most people picture when they picture a slat wall.
The same look and the same felt, in a hard-wearing surface. Good for a hallway or anywhere that gets knocked about.
For a room that can carry a colour. Oxide blue, copper and the rest, on the same acoustic felt.
Three ways to take the echo out
The WoodUpp difference
Four things that still matter after the wall is up
The room stops echoing
The felt absorbs sound from the first panel. On battens with mineral wool behind them, Akupanels reach Class A absorption.
The original Akupanel
We invented the acoustic slat panel and we still produce it ourselves, in our own facilities in Denmark and the USA.
Finished edges
End lamellas close the exposed sides and wrap corners, so the wall reads as built-in rather than added on.
It changes when you do
Create accessories clip into the felt between the slats. Move a shelf, hang a light, no new holes in the wood.
The questions we get before people order
Acoustics, mounting, picking a finish, and what happens if you change your mind.
